Import tests and export code
Bring CSV or JSON cases into a project and export Playwright, page objects, or Appium tests.
You can bring existing cases into a project and export supported suites as code. Report exports from a completed run are covered separately in Results.
Import web test cases
- Open Tests and choose Import tests.
- Upload a CSV or JSON file.
- Select Auto-detect, CSV, or JSON, and optionally set the suite name and page URL.
- Import, inspect the created cases, and run a small selection.
A JSON file describes one suite and its cases:
{
"suite": {
"name": "Account checks",
"page_url": "https://staging.example.com/account"
},
"cases": [
{
"name": "Account heading is visible",
"priority": "high",
"steps": [
{"action": "navigate", "target": "https://staging.example.com/account"}
],
"assertions": [
{"type": "visible", "target": "h1", "message": "The account heading should appear"}
]
}
]
}
CSV columns include suite_name, case_name, description, priority, steps, and assertions. The last two contain JSON arrays, so escape quotes according to CSV rules. One row represents a case. The importer currently caps files at 5 MB, 500 cases, and 200 steps per case.
Configure protected-page access through App access. Importing a file does not establish that its targets or assertions work.
Export a web suite
Select a suite and open Export → Playwright test (.spec.ts). Review the generated code and download it. Install the required Playwright dependencies in your own repository and configure the environment and test credentials before running it.
Page Object Model project (.zip) is available for eligible suites and plans. It includes page objects, tests, and configuration. A suite without generated page-object code may not have this export.
Import or export mobile code
For native mobile suites, Import Appium accepts an Appium test for conversion. Inspect the resulting actions and app/device configuration before execution.
The mobile suite's Export menu provides an Appium/WebdriverIO file. Browser-only Playwright code and native Appium code use different execution environments; use the appropriate export for the suite's surface.
