AutomationAegisRunner CLI

AegisRunner CLI

Trigger scans and runs from a terminal and collect results for automation.

The @aegisrunner/cli package provides the aegis command. Use it with a project CI token.

Install and authenticate

Use a currently supported Node.js release. The package requires Node.js 18 or later.

npm install -g @aegisrunner/cli

Set AEGIS_TOKEN through your local secret manager or CI secret environment. The default API is https://app.aegisrunner.com/api/v1; set AEGIS_API to override it.

Run existing tests

# Run the default selection for the token's project.
aegis run

# Run a specific suite.
aegis run --suite YOUR_SUITE_ID

# Save a JUnit report.
aegis run --suite YOUR_SUITE_ID --format junit --output aegis-results/junit.xml

# Read the status of an existing run.
aegis status YOUR_RUN_ID --format json

aegis run waits by default. Use --no-wait to return after dispatch or --timeout 3600 to allow up to an hour.

When no suite or case is selected, the API prefers suites from the latest scan and falls back to project suites when none are found. Select an explicit suite for a stable release check.

Scan and generate tests

aegis scan --watch
aegis scan --url https://staging.example.com --watch
aegis scan --role Admin --watch

A cloud scan URL override must satisfy the project's domain restriction. --watch follows discovery and test-generation progress. A scan command does not replace a separate regression run of existing tests.

For a password login, pass the password through stdin or AEGIS_PASSWORD:

printf '%s' "$STAGING_PASSWORD" | aegis scan --username qa@example.com --password-stdin --watch

Credentials supplied this way are saved for the project so later scans and runs can sign in. Do not place passwords in command-line flags.

Interpret exit codes

For aegis run, 0 indicates no blocking failure, 1 indicates test failures, and 2 indicates an error, timeout, or cancellation. A needs-review outcome is non-blocking when there are no failing cases; inspect it in the dashboard.

Use aegis --help and the command's help for options supported by your installed release. For private targets, see Local testing.
